Field notes

Notes from the Keeper.

Fantery is a small independent workshop disguised as a cabinet of impossible artifacts. Each drawer holds an original browser game. Open one, learn its odd rule, then leave when the rule has said enough.

Why tiny?

A small game has little room to hide its idea. Fantery gives each artifact one rule, a clear way in, and only the length that rule can carry.

Why the browser?

A browser turns a game into a link. You can open it on a machine you already have, send the same artifact to someone else, and return to its permanent record later.

How the Cabinet is kept

  • One impossible rule per game, taken completely seriously.
  • One permanent FA number for every catalogued artifact.
  • A label says Playable only when a release exists.
  • Workshop labels stay separate from the playable Cabinet.

Who keeps the cabinet?

A small independent workshop maintains the catalog, the play frame, and each game source that has been recovered into the Cabinet. The Keeper chooses what receives a label and what stays on the workbench.

New playable records appear in the quiet artifact feed.

The notebook

Finished decisions, kept short.

  1. A link is a door Why Fantery keeps play in the browser and gives each artifact a permanent address.
  2. Earning the Core shelf The checks an artifact passes before the Keeper places it on Fantery's first shelf.
  3. Permanent labels Why an FA number survives a redesign, a repair, and even a closed drawer.
